One effective combination bed former I have seen
was put together by Eric Kindberg behind a Yeoman Plow. We intend making one for
our Celli spade plow. This is how it works:
- take two heavy discs and weld them to a piece of pipe 10+" od, with the discs facing in
- discs should be larger than the pipe so they form the edge of the bed, the higher the desired bed the more the discs should extend beyond the pipe
- pipe should be the width of the bed top
- pass axle through discs or mount wheel hubs before welding
- mount unit onto plow [ the hard part] so that it can be adjusted i.e. with two top links and pivot arms
We intend using the roller/bedformer as the depth
control to get away from green manures binding on the O.E.M. depth skids. If I
had heavy ground like you, I would mount discs on the skid mountings to scoop
pathway soil into the mouth of the plow [ we run a 52" unit on 60" beds and
handle the paths separately ]
