Take that together with increasing automation, AI and robots that can take over from nearly every worker in every profession and the future looks "interesting". There are now fantastic courses on line in almost every subject you can think off that can teach children much better than almost any human teacher. Most medical doctors I know are dangerous for peoples health. Robots could do the same or a lot better.

Take all that together with austerity and where are we going? Depopulation? For it is hardly likely that people will just be useful as consumers and nothing else and people will not be financially able to keep consuming.

I normally don't talk politics on line either Paul. But your post of the Earth ship woman mentioned politics a few times and I could not stop myself.

I think we agree.

John I try to keep my politics & other issues on my Twitter @NetNewsBuzz with 3,900 followers . So we don't want a mess of posts unrelated to the focus of this list. Trouble is, our farms are affected by so much going on outside the farm  - as u know. I'm aware this election circus is ridiculous to the whole world. In my view, the two parties are wholly owned subsidiaries of the financial establishment - Wall Street - & other parties are automatically excluded by the wholly owned media. Bottom line, whatever affects agriculture is decided by how Wall Street thinks they can make the most money.  At some point it may come down to who can survive, and you can't eat money.

Politics is on many minds these days. You have presidential elections coming up that may change everything on this planet for the worse. Clinton has already promised war with the Russians. This will most likely end in all out nuclear war. Trump is unpredictable at best.

Many of us in Europe can not understand that Americans seem to see the two party system as the only possibility when you have decent candidates running who are completely kept out of the light. You could talk organic and sustainable agriculture with the Green candidate Jill Stein who polls above 16 % right now. If people want real change then this is the candidate to vote for. Instead chances are they will vote for what they see as the least evil of the two classic candidates. They are both so evil that no good will ever come from any of the two.

Please surprise me.

This essay is from a woman living in an Earth ship in desert outside Taos.
