< For me keeping doing things that are basically good for the world such as gardening is essential. I will also try this year to do something for pollinators especially honey bees that have all but disappeared here. I found someone with bees in a shed that have never seen chemicals and that had the strength left to swarm these last two years.
If it were not for this I would go absolutely crazy.
Unfortunately I think that Guy McPherson just might be an optimist. We have not yet reached the big tipping point in climate change when the North Pole will be completely ice free in summer and warming will speed up dramatically.
There is also Fukushima that has been spewing out enormous amounts of radioactive, long lived, deadly materials every day for years now with hardly a word in the MSM (main stream media). This alone will probably be sufficient to make life on earth bite the dust unless it can be stopped and it does not look as if it can be
And then there are the idiots who keep on pushing for WW3 daily. Just read that Obama has been promised cheaper oil in Saudi Arabia if he bombs Syria and Iran.
Good luck to those of us who keep doing useful things.

Seems there are some changes in places. But I've been following this for
years, when there were only as couple voices crying in the wilderness. &
it looks to me like 2C rise is certain already & will be bad enough at
that level. The rise would continue past 2C even if CO2 emissions
stopped completely. Also looks like corporate & nationalist forces will
hold out till they're destroyed by their own greed - & a lot of us with
it. I always say I'm not out to save the world - it doesn't want to be
saved - just hope to help a few who want help to deal with it all.
Though it bothers me to hear the grandkids talk about college as if life
will go on as usual. I don't go along with Guy McPherson's extinction by
2030, but between the extremes of predictions there's a world of ruin I
don't want to see. The moderate forecasts are hard enough to believe, so
people just don't think about it, & I'm a moderate. Maybe keep gardening
as long as possible.
