More Crop Per Drop This Saturday, March 22nd, the world celebrates World Water Day. Water and agriculture are inextricably interlinked and interdependent. Agriculture is a major user of both ground and surface water for irrigation—accounting for about 70 percent of water withdrawal worldwide. http://foodtank.com/news/2014/03/more-crop-per-drop Unfortunately she doesn't mention mulching which of course reduces evaporation & crusting, & weeding, or increasing soil organic matter which retains more moisture but drains excess water more efficiently.
