Who was it here that recommended Carol Deppe's book on Resilient gardening? Thanks, whoever you are... I bought the book and am finding it a wealth of good information, but unfortunately it doesn't apply to southern New England. Yet, she gives one the tools to extrapolate her methods/experiments to other regions, I think. What works for her in Oregon may not work everywhere (I cannot overwinter anything here, as she does!), but at least I can use her studies of her own gardens' needs to work out a way to study my own, given my climate and rainfall patterns here.

Deppe does reference Steve Solomon, who is not well received on this list, for whatever reason; I'm almost inclined to read his stuff to see what the problem is. (Though I take it he is also from the Northwest, and wouldn't have information pertinent to my area.) But the other site that was referenced her the other day, about using "dust mulch"; yeah, that's pretty strange and doesn't make a lot of sense.

Can anyone recommend a good gardening reference(s) similar to Deppe, that would apply more to the Northeast? Jeavons was mentioned, but someone said he advocates a lot of inputs...?
