In our area a number of Aldi grocery stores have opened up, and they seem to cater to the lower economic strata. It's like a warehouse store only smaller, and without a membership. You bring your own bags, even for produce. Which is not obtained from local sources by the way. They have everything most anyone could need or want, but it is ALL Aldi's own brand. I'm not against "store brands", but you still need to read the label, and where it comes from. I almost never buy processed food, so there is very little to draw me into the store; I'd rather get my produce from my back yard or the local Farmer's markets. I did buy a package of frozen flounder, and discovered it was from China.
