Two words: Hoof boots! They can come off at the end of the day and they don't restrict circulation like shoes do. It sounds like they are tough-soled enough, just getting over worn from the rough roads. If your horses are getting "road trimmed" then you are saving money! But if it's too much of course, you need to protect them from excessive wear. I would definitely give boots a try.
There is a Boot Swap web page if you want to save some money; most will ship internationally. I sold a pair of boots on there to Canada.
