I haven't followed the entire muscovy duck thread, but it seems to be related to their invasiveness. Here in Florida they are a very serious problem. They outcompete native ducks, including the endemic Mottled Duck, which is struggling to maintain its foothold. Muscovies do fly, as they tend to roost in trees around here. They are also extremely aggressive toward people, especially when they take up residence in area parks where ignorant people perpetuate the problem by feeding them.
