It isn't necessarily cheap for people, but it is cheaper for Nature. Right now, food is expensive in terms of risk to the future and energy costs.
Growing one's own food takes time, which is valuable, whether or not you get paid by someone for it. We have spent the last 100 years replacing labor with petroleum, and growing gardens again is one way of reversing that process. "Cheap" is relative only to an "economy" which isn't cheap or economical as far as Nature is concerned.

But maybe it is really a return to cheap food:o) I mean if folks go back to gardening, bartering for stuff they dont produce etc it gets really really cheap KWIM? So perhaps this the step towards instead of a horror. At least it looks that way in my head.

Imagine the world full of small gardens and small holdings.

who almost has a new wonderful beautiful milk room. The wiring went in yesterday. It should be done enough to start using it by the end of the weekend.
