For dry beans, to start with basically acceptable soil, you should get at
least 2/3 ounce of dry beans per square foot. Under optimal soil and
growing conditions, you could get as much as 4 ounces of beans per square
foot.

For green snap/shelly beans, under basic conditions you can get about 1/3
pound per square foot. Under optimal soil and growing conditions, you can
get a little over 1 pound per square foot.
