You hear people speak of hybrid "vigor" in regards to livestock. I think
it's all about selecting the animals within a breed that do the best on less
grain, stay the most healthy, are the best tasting, etc. and use them in your
breeding program. As we all know, most livestock today have been bred as grain
dumps and we are loosing sustainable genetics (the ability to convert forage
to meat & milk).See this site for heritage breeds http://www.nehbc.org/
and http://www.nehbc.org/gallery.html for poultry heritage breeds. Ryan ---
