I was wondering if anyone here has seen any results in nitrogen fixation from inoculating cowpea seed? I've noticed that here in south AL, that the legume weeds have all got nodules on their roots. My biggest weed is the Florida begger weed and in the fall and spring, common vetch. But when I plant cowpeas and such, I'm not seeing any nodules.
The reason I ask is, I try to plant my collards and other winter crops where I've had peas. But this year I set out 1K collards where the first crop of peas were, but I also spread poultry litter on that patch. My second planting of collards went where my late peas were that I had hogged down after picking. Those plants look to be nitrogen deficient. Stunted and lower leaves drying. I thought that I ought to try the inoculate this next spring. Any ideas?
