The Chinese were using unglazed clay pots for irrigation thousands of years ago. A plastic container will work as well. Bury it up to its neck. Have small holes [four or more] in the sides. Plant around it. Fill it regularly with water.
I would go with DIY driplines. Dick Chapin says that the dripline with a bucket at least 3 feet above ground should not be longer than 100 Ft. long. Plant on each side of it. Takes app. 1½ hours to drain out the 5 gallons of water.
You can use a header line and have the driplines feeding off it. Dick started out using a 55 gal. drum but it is too high for filling by hand.
