A big question for those who advocate using rock powder to mineralize or remineralize soil:
 
How can you be sure exactly what is in the rock dust?  Nutritionists warn us, for example, not to consume the natural rock deposit Dolomite as a mineral supplement, because it frequently contains dangerous quantities of lead, along with the valuable calcium and magnesium.  How do rock dusters know that they are not adding heavy metals to their soil, along with the calcium and other useful minerals in the rock?  Are there scientifically valid assays that can be done on samples of rock dust to assure their safety in the garden and on the farm?
