I note the use of the term “suitable
for the fresh market” on much literature
put out by OMAFRA describing cultivars of various types of stone fruits
including apricots, peaches, etc.
Does anyone know the fruit attributes that might make a specific
cultivar suitable for the fresh market as opposed
to some other market presumably like for shipping to far away places or for
canning etc.
One sample document which uses this term is as follows in describing the
various cultivars of apricot http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/crops/facts/02-035.htm#a. Perhaps Margie can help answer this
question. Joe Calico |
