Title: Re: scion wood
Hi all,
I mentioned in a previous posting about another
terrific scionwood site. I spoke to the fellow, and you can also order scionwood
from him. Contact is Bill Wheeler at Inner Coast Nursery. He had to suspend
things for awhile, but is back operating in a limited capacity. His email is billwheel@gmail.com and you can look at
his old list, which is still pretty accurate, at http://mars.ark.com/~squeeze/apls-in.htp
Quick thought - I only spoke to him about scionwood - but he also does grafting.
Don't know if he wants to send to Ontario though.
Another wonderful contact is Derry Walsh. Her web
page is http://derrysorchardandnursery.ca
A batch of her trees just arrived last week - very healthy. She grows her newly
grafted rootstock in pots, then sends them out with roots well protected in
bags. Instead of the usual bare root, you get a root system with all those
wonderful feeder roots.
Joe, thanks for the lead on Charlie Eagle. I spoke
with him and will be placing an order. We had a nice chat about the Foxwhelp
cider apple, which is not the true Foxwhelp, but everyone out west seems to have
the same thing. Also, don't worry about scionwood costs - it's my pleasure
to share these things within the group. I figure these things all balance
themselves out over time.
Cheers to all, Bizmark.
