My Mom had left total knee replacement on Nov 9th, from Dr. Hardayal
Singh, Orthopaedic Specialists of NC, 3320 Executive Dr, Suite 218,
Raleigh, NC. Her surgery was at Duke Raleigh Hospital. The nerve block
catheter on the femoral nerve is a good thing.
My Mom is getting PT at Sports & More PT in Cary. The physical
therapist is sufficiently pushy and demanding.
I think Duke Health Raleigh Hospital was not aggressive enough with my
Mom while she was there for 3 days. Due to her age and other health
issues, she went to short-term rehab from the hospital. It looks like
that unit in that hospital is far more aggressive with patients who
are going straight home. The minute Mom was approved by Medicare for
short-term rehab, the therapists stopped trying to have Mom meet the
posted therapy goals for patients (walk 50 ft, walk 100 ft, practice
getting into a car, etc).
My Mom has walked 0.5 mile once since surgery. She is scheduled for
knee replacement #2 in late January, with same surgeon and same
hospital. Mom the retired RN is going to have a little chat with the
right person on hospital staff before that surgery.
