Digital Repository Developer (Analyst, IT)

2 year term appointment, with possibility of extension
The Digital Repository Developer will participate in the design and development of a technical infrastructure to support the management, preservation and appropriate access to digital scholarship at Duke.  The incumbent will work closely with data owners, software developers, repository managers, and other library and University staff to communicate and implement technology solutions. The position reports to the Head of Core Services within the Information Technology Services department of the Duke University Libraries.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of the TUCASI Infrastructure Project, which aims to develop a federated repository infrastructure between Duke University, UNC-CH, and NCSU.
• Design, implement, test and write documentation for custom software applications and extensions to existing open source repository software.
• Code, integrate, and maintain services and applications that support digital object ingest, preservation, search, discovery, distribution and presentation.
• Participate on the repository development team, helping to research and select appropriate toolkits and to integrate them with existing storage, identity management, and digital asset management infrastructure, and with existing and future web services and interfaces.
• Work closely with data creators and managers to understand their needs and develop mechanisms for integrating their data into the core repository.
• Recommend and develop interfaces and APIs for exposing repository content to systems and services relevant to stakeholder communities.
• Collaborate with various information technology teams across campus to provide appropriate infrastructure in support of the scholarly information lifecycle.
