Has anyone on the list installed something simple to control their house's temperature?
Just throwing in my 2 cents, if you have a heat pump you might want to avoid radically changing your thermostat settings. Heat pumps have a fairly limited ability to react to large changes in temperature, and they work more efficiently within a small range. For example, in the winter if you have your temperature set at 60F during the day but then 68F when you get home, on a cold day there may not be enough residual heat outside to allow the unit to reach 68F in a reasonable amount of time, so it will use the "backup" heat source, usually electric induction, which just blew any savings you may have gained by lowering the temperature in the first place.
