To Campus Support group and Internetworkers:
This looks like an interesting opportunity. I meant to forward this message sooner. The application deadline is May 4. From civicrm.org:
CiviCRM is the first open source and freely downloadable constituent
relationship management solution. CiviCRM is web-based, open source,
internationalized, and designed specifically to meet the needs of
advocacy, non-profit and non-governmental groups.

U.S. PIRG is launching a new program this summer called Code for
Change. It is inspired by Google's Summer of Code program, but with
an activist twist. We'll be looking for students and recent graduates
who want to put their coding skills to work towards progressive
social change.
This summer, we'll be bringing together computer science students
from all over the country to work on CiviCRM. There will probably be
3-5 participants overall (but we're recruiting heavily so we can get
3-5 stellar people), based in Denver, Colorado, USA.
Our website is fairly meager at the moment, but it lives here: http://
www.uspirg.org/codeforchange
If you or anyone you know wants to apply, go here: http://
www.uspirg.org/codeforchange/apply
We have a limited number of living stipends and affordable housing
options for out-of-towners.
We will be working directly with the CiviCRM developer community (all
of you) to add new features to CiviCRM and integrate it with U.S.
PIRG's existing systems. Wherever possible, we will do this work in a
generic way that will be beneficial to everyone using CiviCRM (rather
than coding U.S. PIRG-specific kludges everywhere). All of our work
will be contributed back to the CiviCRM community.
I'll be directing this program, so please feel free to send me any
questions or comments you have.
I'll post more details on the specifics of what we want to do w/
CiviCRM as I get them nailed down.
