A credit 'report' and a credit 'score' are completely different.

http://www.annualcreditreport.com is a gateway to provide one free credit report
per year from each of the big three agencies (equifax, experian, transunion).

If you want a credit 'score', the common one in use by most lenders is the FICO
score from Fair Isaac.  You can get one, two or all three FICO scores
(FICO algorithm calculated using data from individual agencies, slightly
tweaked for each agency) from myfico.com.  I wouldn't bother with the 'score power'
and junk like that from the individual agencies.  Anyone using a credit
score is likely using the FICO score.

A way to get a free score (bit of a pain) is to pretend to go mortgage shopping.  Call
a lender (countrywide, for example), have them take an application from you,
they'll pull credit scores, and you can ask for them.  If you do this a lot it will
have a small negative effect on your scores, but once in a while doesn't hurt appreciably.

Has anyone figured out the best way to get credit reports?  They're
supposed to be free from the credit companies, but then you've got to
keep track of how to get 'em, which is where pay services like
creditreport.com come in.   Has anyone figured out the best to go
about keeping tabs on their credit scores?
