The NYTimes is running one of those look at-the-gee-whiz-things-those-geeks come up with articles this morning that discusses combining Web Service API's, mapping, and a comparison of the business directions of Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft. The example from the article is http://housingmaps.com/, a site that takes the real estate postings data stream feed from craigslist (sorry tony, no raleighlist) and plots them into Google's maps. In playing with it this morning there were too features I found especially nice:
a) the ability to sort the data (by price, by bedrooms, city, pictures available [yellow = yes, red = no] )
b) if the posting you're interested in has pictures they'll be displayed as thumbnails in a layer when you mouse over where the posting is plotted
The site covers for sale, for rent, rooms and sublets.
