- Subject: [internetworkers] Tiger smb connection help
- Date: Sat, 30 Apr 2005 12:21:26 -0400
Since there are more than a few Mac heads here I figured I would post this. I'm looking to see if anyone else has this same problem in Tiger or better yet, some solution to the problem. So far some quick google checks and looking on the Apple discussion boards hasn't been very helpful.
I have a Linux server running samba 3.0.7 serving some guest shares and the home directory shares. Using the Go -> Connect to Server menu in 10.3.9 I can connect to either the guest shares or my home directory share. Of course, the home directory share requires me to login with my Linux userid and SMB password. Works great in 10.3.9.
With Tiger the guest shares work but the home directory shares do not. The error Tiger gives me is that the SMB password I'm using is not valid. Somehow I doubt this considering the same connection in 10.3.9 works great.
Anyone else having problems using Tiger to connect to smb:// resources that require authentication? Anyone else confirm this is working and if so what version of samba they're connecting to?
