er... almost. The "they" asking Congress isn't DOJ, as your wording might
be interpreted, but DHS. And they're not asking Congress to lay out the
rules; they're asking Congress for *particular* rules to be laid out.
They (DHS) already have in mind what they'd like.
just clarifying -- whether this is scary or not depends on the particulars
of what US Election Assistance Commission has in mind. given that I'm
already distrustful of DHS in general, and the potential doublespeak
interpretations of the phrase "election assistance", this news doesn't
really bring me peace of mind.
