The Google toolbar is a necessity for my business.  Sure wish they would release it for Safari so I can make the switch.

Dude. Safari has a little Google search box next to the location bar -- comes with the browser, no downloading from Google required. :)
Not sure what else the "Google Toolbar" for IE does, but there's a good chance that any modern up-to-date web browser (that is, just about anything other than IE) will do those things out of the gate, or can be configured/extended to do them.
If you do serious work with a web browser, I HIGHLY recommend that you take a few minutes (if you haven't already) to look into FireFox (also has a googlebox on the toolbar, and works in MacOSX), and the growing list of available extensions available for it. Nifty stuff.
