I suppose if you think he lied about WMD, the joke is evil; if you think he
erred in judgment on WMD, the joke is more a dose of humility.

I think the point is that you don't launch a pre-emptive war that circumvents the approval of both Congress and the United Nations unless you are pretty confident about your intelligence.
Considering that WMD was the nail that Bush hung his hat on which justified killing hundreds of allied troops and an unknown thousands of Iraqi /civilians/, I think more than humility is in order here. And I certainly don't think it should be boiled down to an egg-on-my-face PR stunt.

What kind of message did we send to the world? Look at Israel following our lead. It is a sad day when it is acceptable to assassinate a leader of a foreign political organization by shooting a missile at him while he is walking out of a church. Should India just invade Pakistan and get it over with? They have a nuclear missile program, after all.

And look at the message Bush is sending to us here at home. He told us that we were going to war whether we liked it or not. Three years ago he told us that he would be our president whether we liked it or not. He is saying that the democratic process on which America is founded can be disregarded by a leader who has the power to appoint judges (while congress is out-of-session) that can interpret the laws in his favor. And then he has the arrogance to believe that we are all so stupid that we don't notice what's going on. Or that it can be erased by a little political humor.

The scary part is, it looks like he is right.
