CED Technology Forum - Government as Your Customer: Exploring Alternative
Revenue Opportunities
Date: Wednesday, January 21, 2004
Time: 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. (Registration 5:00 - 5:30 p.m.)
Location: MCNC Building 1, 3021 Cornwallis Road, RTP, and N.C.
Discover new strategies for working with government organizations from a wide
range of experts and entrepreneurs at CED's January Tech Forum. Dr. Ellen
Segan of the Army Research Office, will present information on the SBIR
(Small Business Innovation Research) and STTR (Small Business Technology
Transfer) Programs. SBIR and STTR programs provide over $1.6 billion each
year in R&D funding to small, innovative, US-owned businesses through grants
and contracts.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Dr. Robert Lontz, a local
entrepreneur who co-founded two companies involved in commercializing
government-sponsored research. Richard Boyd, of 3Dsolve, Inc., will speak on
successfully engaging the government as a customer. Mark Larson, an Assurance
Partner at Grant Thornton, will offer an accounting perspective to consider
when pursuing government contracts. Other local entrepreneurs will also share
their insight regarding successful approaches in using the SBIR/STTR programs
to their strategic advantage.
