Ride 3?

Hmmmm.... according to this map, it is Park & Ride 2. This map shows
Park and Ride 3 to be the one out towards I-40.

http://www.ridetta.org/rdumap.html

Here are the directions to get the photo shot. If you have a tele-photo
lens you should bring it.

- Come in to the airport from I-40.
- Drive past Terminal A
- Take a right before you get to Terminal C
- Now you are on the road that'll snake all the way out to highway 70
past parking lots, fed ex and cargo planes, etc.
- As soon as you go around the curve, you'll see the tail of the plain
and the right wing. If you are someone that observes planes and are used
to the smaller ones that populate RDU, it is pretty startling. This is
the closest shot you can get of the plane, but I don't think that there
is a good place to stop right there. Also, you only get a shot of the
plane from the back.
- Follow the road on around. You can't stop along there.
- The road splits in to two one way roads. You'll bear right.
- There is a dead end road that has the rescue building at the end on
the left. That's the only place you get a really good view of the bird
without being on a heavily traveled road.

>From there, there is one more shot that you can get, but you'll have to
take it from inside a moving car.

- Get back on the road out to 70. (You'll only be able to go one way.)
- Follow the signs to the observation park.
- Don't bother with the observation park. You can't see it from there.
- Get on the road back to the terminals.
- As you are driving down that road in the area of the two bridges,
you'll be able to get a shot. But you'll have to take it while moving --
it's a busy road.

It's socially acceptable to be doing anything weird around airports
these days. However, I don't think that anything that I'm proposing is
illegal. At the very most, you might be risking getting your car towed
or maybe a parking ticket, but I don't think that it would take that
long to snap the picture.

Cheers!
