I thought I had forwarded this to the list earlier today, but it hasn't shown up. Forgive the duping if you get it twice.

FYI: From Rusty Haynes of NCSU Solar Center

North Carolina offers a generous 35% tax credit for the purchase and
installation of most renewable energy systems, including solar. There
are several solar energy businesses that serve the Triangle area.
I've listed two at the bottom of this message. In addition, there are
some good (free)local resources available for those interested in
installing renewable energy systems. These include:

1. The NCSU Solar Center
http://www.ncsc.ncsu.edu/
919.515.5666
(The Solar Center offers a "Directory of Renewable Energy and
Efficiency Professionals" under the "Publications" section of the web
site, although this directory is not entirely up-to-date. Note that
the Solar Center will have a new and much improved web site available
in January.)

2. The North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association (NCSEA)
http://www.ncsolar.org/
919.832.7601

3. The Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy (DSIRE)
www.dsireusa.org

4. The state of North Carolina is a partner in the federal Million
Solar
Roofs Initiative (MSRI). Chapel Hill, Greensboro, Asheville, and
Boone have
organized MSRI communities; Durham is now getting on its feet.
Charlotte, Greenville, and Wilmington will join soon. For more
information, contact Valerie Everette (valerie_everette AT ncsu.edu) or
Eric Soderberg(ewsoderb AT eos.ncsu.edu).
