how many here have seen startup.com ?I confess, I saw it at doubletake. Being a minor fan of documentary type films I was interested that it came out of the Pennebaker/Hegedus shop. Pennebaker and his former partner, Rickie Leacock, seem to go back nearly to the beginning of documentary film. Pennebaker did a piece, "Primary," on the Kennedy/Humphrey Primary. I think the "Don't Look Back" film, made a couple of years later, grew out of the name Pennebaker made on that. "The War Room" seems has some of the same style and technique. I've got my own opinions about verite film style (which I'll be happy to bend some poor soul's ear on given hardly any opportunity at all!). The concert movie about the "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" sound track folks, "Down From the Mountain" comes from the Hegedus connection (...really terrific music. Emmylou Harris and the late John Hartford are great, along with the other folks, much great stuff....) http://www.movieminder.com/movlist/?movieID=1530

Oh, Startup.com. It's well done. Did they sell lot of tickets?

(the www site is silly and sparse) which was at the doubletake film fest
back in may?
has it already passed thru the triangle? if not it would make a great
rocky-horror-like feature to attend as a group. the film, according to a
friend who saw it on both coasts, had folks in shock in DC but was treated
as a comedy in santa barbara.

i think of this as i spent last night watching the PBS revenge of the
nerds follow-up in which the host robert cringely gushes over startups
whilst dissing slightly the internet founders as career scientists who
never made a penny on their ideas. the film certainly views differently
today than back when cringely made it...
