The Supreme Court today ruled that corporations cannot arrogate the
electronic and/or database rights to past works by freelance writers
without permission and compensation.

"The high court, by a 7-2 vote, upheld a ruling that the publishers must
pay free-lance writers, photographers and artists extra for work
included in online and CD-ROM databases or must remove the material."
