Bridging the Triangle's Digital/Human Divide What's Working; What Must Be
Done March 24, 2001
http://www.rtpnet.org/rtpconf

There is still space. You can register at the door, but we can't guarantee
lunch.

Purpose:
This conference is for people interested in closing the "Digital Divide" in
the Research Triangle area of North Carolina.

When:
Saturday, March 24, 2001, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Where:
The William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill.

What:
Some people are benefiting from new technology and some are not. This
conference addresses the gap in the Triangle between those who have access to
technology and the development of information skills and those who do not.

Triangle Area Centers for Technology (TACT) is an outgrowth of the conference
held April 15, 2000, in Chapel Hill. The purpose of TACT is to facilitate the
introduction, use, and support
of technology in community centers and schools in the Triangle area (Raleigh,
Durham, Chapel Hill, and surrounding communities in North Carolina) through
partnerships that bring resources and needs together. Specifically, TACT is
organized to educate the public through the use of computers and information
technology, by providing support services, built on collaboration and
volunteerism, for community centers and school technology programs.

Who:
Participants will include organizations that provide computer access and
training, social and direct service organizations whose clients want access
to the Internet and staff of such organizations, corporations that provide
funding, and individuals, such as educators, librarians, and computer
specialists, who want to learn how they can contribute.

Fee:
The conference fee, which includes lunch and materials, is $40 on or before
March 19, $50 after March 19. Scholarships are available (see Registration).

My brain seems to have a circuit-breaker-like mechanism that, when I get
confused and befuddled by the overwhelming monstrosities of my life,
causes a default to the simplest and most pleasant of thoughts. Like
Marshmallow Peeps. I *like* Marshmallow Peeps.
