The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at The University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill is proud to announce a new workshop designed
especially for visual journalists who are interested in exploring multimedia.
This six-day intensive study program beginning on May 26, 2001 will focus on
journalistic applications for multimedia storytelling and will feature a
distinguished faculty of professionals and educators. The workshop is limited
to 20 participants and will be taught in the School¹s new digital darkroom and
multimedia laboratories. Each student will have an assigned computer for the
entire workshop and will learn Flash, Dreamweaver, and advanced Photoshop
techniques as well as extensive audio and video content gathering and editing
approaches.

The workshop is directed by Professor Rich Beckman, a veteran photojournalist,
multimedia producer and former NPPA Electronic Photojournalism Workshop
faculty member and features Tom Kennedy, Director of Photography,
Washingtonpost.com; Karl Kuntz, Managing Editor, Graphics, The Columbus
Dispatch; Adam Stoltman, Co-Founder, Journal E; Brian Storm, Director of
Multimedia, MSNBC; Pat Davison, Staff Photographer, Rocky Mountain News and
2000 POY first place award winner in Best Use of Photography ­ New Media:
Individuals and Small Groups; John Caserta, Creative Director, Quokka Sports;
and J. Carl Ganter, Managing Editor, MediaVia.
