Need pledges of volunteer time by March 15 for RTPnet.
A list of some volunteer areas follows later in this message.
Please use the form at http://www.rtpnet.org/rtpnet/vol.html
There is a link to the form on the RTPnet home page
(http://www.rtpnet.org/).

Can you give some of your time to help North Carolinians bridge the
digital/human divide? Besides the direct help of your work, RTPnet can use
your pledge for matching dollars in its grant proposal to the Technology
Opportunities Program.

Please say what you would like to do or what your skills are and how much
time you will contribute. Be realistic. Your pledged work will be even
more important if we don't get the grant.

Some ideas of things you might like to do include the following:

- Teach basic literacy, GED, computer, or other classes at community
technology centers or be a teacher's assistant (we will train
trainers)
- Help a community technology center develop a Web site, as a learning
experience for the participants
- Moderate a web-based discussion forum
- Provide technical assistance
- Help maintain Web pages on www.rtpnet.org -- an entry point for local
information
- Help maintain support services on RTPnet
- Help gather resources
- Help new centers get established
- Help select and evaluate training materials
- Provide administrative support services

See the Triangle Area Centers for Technology web site at
http://www.rtpnet.org/tact/ for other ideas.

The proposal:
Have's Helping Have-Nots (HHH)

The people and organizations in North Carolina who are benefiting from the
information age will help North Carolinians who want to learn how to use
information technology to better their lives. See the proposal as it
develops at http://www.rtpnet.org/top/
