Hi Ed,

DEpending if you want secure or insecure communications there's several
options around.

For intranets or PVN you could use VNC, from ATT Labs. It's free,
multiplatform andthe software client can be a Java-enabled Browser.

Then, depending on your OSs, you can go for PC-Anywhere, ssh+rlogin,
rconsole... Using a Liteweightt Linux distribution you will have plenty of
choices.
