Gene, on Atlas Shrugged updated.....
OMG !!!! That is super funny !!!! Wonderful !!!
Bob, on 1st editions.
Can't say I have anything close to the first editions. I bought the CDs not
too long ago. Makes road trips pass by easier, as that is one book I don't
mind re-reading from time to time.
Here's another funny I heard on a radio show:
AND NOW A MESSAGE FROM OUR SPONSOR:
Hey is your economy in trouble? Scamwell is the biggest TARP ever created.
Look! It absorbs toxic mortgages like magic! But wait! If you don’t like
bailing out bad loans it converts to a bank asset buyout. Just like that.
You’ve never seen anything like it. And it doesn’t stop there. How about
troubled automakers? Why not! Scamwell can do it all. Let’s keep those
unprofitable companies intact and keep those overpaid union workers happy.
How about a bankrupt State? Scamwell is the terminator. With Scamwell your
budget deficit won’t be back. Scamwell’s Miracle TARP is more than a bargain
at any price, but for a limited time only. We can’t guarantee this price all
day, it’s only $700 billion dollars and growing. So, what are you waiting
for? Everybody get in line for the biggest bailout in history! You won’t
want to miss this limited time offer while the Fed can still print the money.
This offer
void where reason prevails. No guarantees made that Scamwell will work.
Effectiveness is contingent upon the government’s ability to fleece taxpayers
indefinitely.

In Rand's philosophy, capitalism only worked because it was allowed to fall
flat on it's face if it failed. She would be horrified at the current
bailouts. Greed is only good if it also serves the interests of other
people, too. Creating a superior product or service because one is greedy
and wants lots of business is a win/win for the producer and the customer.
Creating a shoddy product because of greed SHOULD put the producer out of
business fast. Today we bail them out, so they can keep being bad
capitalists. Sigh.
