I think you are right, I actually doubt Obama ever intends to do anything on
reparations, but I do not doubt that there are many out there that think he
will.
That is one of his biggest dangers, will large numbers of his voters feel
they
have been deceived when these things do not come to pass. I do see the
possibility that acorn and others have been saying these things in his name.

I very much misdoubt Obama will even bring it up. From my readings he had
had his economists work out what any sort of reparations scheme would cost.
NOT
to seriously consider implementing it but rather to shut up the people who
expected him to take up the issue.

He's a socialist but he's not stupid.

The real issue here is not what Obama is going to do, but what people's
expectation of what he'll do is. And the thing I took from your original
observation on the matter, Bev, is that probably not everyone is even
consciously
aware that they even have that expectation. But so very many do.

If you had been stewed in the notion that many of your problems were not
your
fault, not the results of your decisions, but instead were the lasting after
effects of abuse and discrimination, then with a non-white president, how
could you help but have a feeling of expectation.

When that expectation is not realized, there may be trouble. It may be as
subtle and below the conscious as the expectation itself, but it's coming to
a
country near you.
