"Finally, in an apparent attempt to lure Democrats to his side in advance of his address to the nation next week, Mr. Bush was conferring today with a dozen or more senators, critics and well as supporters. Among those reportedly being wooded by the president were two Democrats considered moderate to conservative, Senators Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas."

If the sky falls I will grow carrots. Otherwise I will buy them as desired.

Every homesteader does that with something. I'm stuborn about the carrots. True that carrots are cheap and not all that bad from the store, but a body can't have carrots getting the better of them.

This past year I grew a few beds of wheat and barley just because it had been several years since I'd done so and I didn't want the experience to fade too far away. The younger children had never seen it done. It was only enough for a few loaves of bread and about two gallons of beer, and like Gene's carrots, I'd do it if I had to, but as long as barley and wheat are for sale cheaply, I'm going to buy them.
