tvoivozhd---more delaying action to avoid doing something effective in reducing drug prices in the United States by comsumers buying in the world market instead of being confined to the artificially high prices prevalent in the U.S...
"Over objections from some drug companies, the Bush administration unveiled a new feature <http://www.medicare.gov/AssistancePrograms/home.asp?version=alternate&browser=Default%7C0%7Cunknown&language=English&defaultstatus=0&pagelist=Home&dest=> of a federal Web site on September 15, 2004, comparing prices for similar brand-name drugs that can be used to treat conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis and allergies. The information, compiled originally for Medicare beneficiaries, is available to all consumers at www.medicare.gov <http://www.medicare.gov>. Federal health officials said that doctors and patients could use the data to choose less expensive drugs providing benefits similar or identical to those of high-cost medications. 'We are creating greater competition among drug companies and giving seniors more power to compare prices and choose the lowest-cost medicine that's right for them,' said Tommy G. Thompson, the secretary of health and human services." - Source <http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/16/politics/16drug.html?ex=1252987200&en=6143e8a0f5c290b2&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland> | CET Archive <http://www.refdesk.com/cet.html>
