The company said its decision was based on six tires returned by
consumers for tire vibration, noise and ride-comfort issues. It found the
problems, if not addressed, could lead to steel belt separation.
BFGoodrich said it concluded that up to 3,500 tires sold under six
tire brand names may have similar performance issues.
The company said in a news release that the recall includes all
potentially affected tires produced during the same period. The tires were
made from April 11 to April 24 at its Ft. Wayne, Indiana, plant and include
BFGoodrich, Uniroyal, Liberator, Medalist, Phantom and Prospector brands.
BFGoodrich said the recalled tires have identification numbers located
on the tire just above the rim which begin with ''DOT BF'' and end with the
last four digits 1504 or 1604.

Arthritis drug Vioxx being pulled off market
NEW YORK, Sept. 30 - The arthritis drug Vioxx, used by two million people
around the world, is being pulled off the market after a study confirmed
long-standing concerns that it raises the risk of heart attack and stroke,
