The disappearance of an island due to Hurricane Jeanne has been posted fortvoivozhd---Tortuga is still there, though taking out thousands of homes on any small island can render it uninhabitable. The nearby Caymans took the biggest hit.
2 days now on another list. No American news sources are reporting it. Has
anyone on this list run across this?
Supposedly, 2600 people lived on the island and a helicopter search by a
couple of helicopters has failed to locate the island. Is this for real?

Hurricane damage is extensive with more than 7500 houses on Grand Cayman uninhabitable. The Department of Tourism offices and many public buildings in George Town were severely damaged. Many resorts were substantially damaged but Owen Roberts International Airport is open with limited flights.
The Sister Islands of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman fared better and electricity has been partially restored on Cayman Brac.
