Bruce and Nancy --

Since I was one of the attendees with a car, I was able to take several of each plant.

My experience was about the same.  Only one of several Knock Out roses made it through my zone 5 winter.  The one that did was a double knock out.

I also had 2 Black Lace Sambucas survive.

As for the hydrangeas,  all of the Lady In Reds I brought back made it and are putting on lots of new growth.  Only half of the Big Daddys came though.  Considering that I paid nothing for them and they were so small that digging them in was a breeze, I'm not unhappy.

Dear Group and Nancy,
I do not know which one it was because it made the trip OK but without
ID. A quick correction as well about the Hydrangeas I brought home. Big
Daddy did not survive the winter it was two Hydrangea Macrophylla Lady
in Red  that survived our very hard winter. The are doing well so far in
this very hot humid summer with little rain. I am watering them.
