Doreen...and others:
I took a look at the Gardner's Choice web site. I'm not sure if this is the same company whose catalog you are referring to (same city and state though) but if it is...just their prices would make me very suspect and they sound so much like the Michigan Bulb Company that we all loved to hate so much. I keyed in to one of their offerings in particular... a climbing lily "Rarely before seen in North America" and at the amazing price of just $9.98 for three 'plants'. Deals like this are often had on street corners in New York City where you can by a Rolex watch for not much more..and Gucci hand bags etc. etc.
When did rare become so inexpensive? And when did the very common gloriosa lily become rare, or nearly rare or anywhere rare?
The other offerings on their web site...none of which have botanical names just recoined common names...are just as suspect. When their flyers come with the Sunday papers then we'll know for sure.
In the mean time caveat emptor..."the axiom or principle in commerce that the buyer alone is responsible for assesing the quality of a product (or plant) before buying."
