Hi Betty,
That's a pretty interesting observation between the
gnats and the feverfew. I'm interested in the answers that will hopefully come
soon.
One organic method that seems to work for many is a
good sprinkling of cinnamon on the top of the top soil. For some reason the
gnats won't lay eggs in the cinnamon.
Others I know like to microwave the top soil in
order to kill gnat eggs. Although I've tried the cinnamon with success, I've
never done the microwaving. Between soaking the grapevines in the tub,
drying pine cones in the oven and heating my metal markers on the stove top to
remove old labels my family is about ready to commit me :-)
