Nancy,
The hummingbird moths as you call them must be what I also saw
in my garden for the first time last year. I live in Clarkston,
(Michigan). I thought they were small hummingbirds, or a different
type of hummingbird...since they had the same habits. They really
liked my Buddleia and Obedient plants.
