I use fish pellets as my main fertilizer and I keep getting one
consistant occurance with them that I haven't had elsewhere. In the garden
this year the cucumbers came up rather irregularly, but the ones that came
were strong. I gave the row a shot of fish pellets and shortly after that,
the remaining seed pushed and came on strong, catching up to the first
plants. I have a shrub of Zanthozylum that had died back and never came
out this year. It had been cut off but the stump hadn't been removed. I
put fish on the area for some annuals in the bed and the stump suddenly
sprouted after showing absolutely no sign of life.
I get this kind of thing consistently Plants that appeared to have died
or never emerged respond amazingly to a shot of the pellets. This, even
when I might have put fish in when I seeded annuals. Not sure if it's the
timing of the fertilizer or the quality, but I consistently get more plants
when I put on a batch of pellets just after the first group emerges than
when I don't apply them, or use them only in the planting process.
