one of the treatments found effective is spraying Botanigard, an insect
pathogenic fungus, on the tree at a certain time. This is a very low risk
material, with possible minor eye and lung irritation from the spores. It
will eat many other insects so can have some non-target effects on
beneficials.

Insect parasitic nematodes would be another possible biocontrol for specimen
trees. The nematode suspension would be injected into the bore holes. This
is labor intensive tho. Heterorhabditis bacteriophora, (= H. heliothedis),
Hb or H. indica would be good nematodes for this use.
