Bill, this all sounds wonderful. Our recent trip to Rwanda, struggling with a Toshiba Magnia, has brought me to the awareness of our same need for such a box. We would be delighted to provide whatever support, input, or testing we can. Please do keep us in the loop on these developments. - Dykki Settle Director, IT IntraHealth/Prime II

RE: "...I know that support has been dropped for the Cobalt Qube 3 line of appliance servers..."
As a side note, I wanted to let the list know that we are currently developing a prototype for a Qube clone, for use in our small offices. For many reasons, we liked the Qube, especially its size and range of functions, but we had problems with the service and proprietary nature of several of its hardware components.
The box itself is currently available with robust motherboards from several vendors for a reasonable price. Somphop, in our Thailand office, is building the prototype, with input from the rest of our Tech Team around the world. For a couple of reasons, we probably will go with a Windows 2003 Server OS rather than LINUX. We also plan to add a small external router (like the Linksys BEFSX41 Instant Broadband™EtherFast®Cable/DSL Firewall Router with 4-Port Switch/VPN End) to the mix, and we think this combo will do just nicely, while maintaining a low cost.
We certainly appreciate any comments or suggestions. I'll try to keep the lis updated with the progress of this project.

Bill Lester EngenderHealth
I know that support has been dropped for the Cobalt Qube 3 line of appliance servers but has anyone configured the Qube as a mail server with the following criteria
- Web accessible mail client for users - Web user interface uses an smtp other than itself.
I have a qube 3 set up in Accra. It is no longer being used as an smtp, just for receiving mail. All others are using mail.africaonline.com.gh as their smtp. However, there is one client who is strictly on webmail for right now and she cannot send mail because the Qubes smtp traffic is not being accepted by Africa Online due to security measures they have put in on their networks . So Im wondering whether anyone has ever configured the Qube 3 to use an alternate smtp service other than itself. Where would those settings be?
Thanks
JoJo
