There could be more than one way to look at Mark 14:27. I suggest that
also this could apply:
I suggest that, in Mark's view, God wanted the priest, who were
represented (or symbolized) by Judas and the servant of the high priest,
to listen to Jesus just as Aaron was to listen to Moses (Exod. 4:15,
27-28). The ears of the priest did not listen to Jesus. (In a way the
ears of the high priest did the high priest wrong. So one of the ones
standing by (an angel-like person) cuts off the offending ear (see Mark
9:43-47).

I prefer what I think is the simpler interpretation: Mark did all in his
power to embed into his stories about Jesus as many events from the Old
Testament as possible to convince his readers/listeners that Jesus' life was
prefigured thousands of years earlier and that he was the messiah written
about. Check out the many parallels between the story of David and Jesus,
and between Jesus and other heroic Old Testament figures, and you'll see why
I believe Mark's Jesus stories are fictional. I've catalogued these
parallels in the articles in the "Mark's Gospel" section of the website at

The article that is relevant to the servant's ear is at
