THE END
I have been wrestling through various narrative approaches to the ending of the gospel. One book I consulted was "Sense and Absence" by JL Magness.
Firstly, I believe that it is most likely that Mark intended to end the gospel at 16:8.
I have been rather philosophical regarding the whole phenomena of endings.
A few reflections...
I had a friend who watched the movie "Fight Club", and was so taken by the twist at the end, that he bought a copy of the video and watched it dozens of times in amazement at how well the body of the story confirmed the unexpected end.
I recently watched a movie "Brokedown Palace" where I was struck by the ending. The thing that struck me (I'm being vague because I hate it when people give away endings) was the implied story beyond and after the end.
Any thoughts?? Counter-thoughts??
